At Direct Line we offer Car Insurance that’s suitable for a range of drivers – including young people who may have just passed their test.

Some car insurers come down hard on drivers who have just passed their test – and often these drivers are young people embracing the opportunity to drive from the age of 17 years. Unfortunately this group of people cannot often afford the rates they are offered by insurers who take age into account and see younger, newer drivers as a higher risk.

We have three levels of cover to choose from – Comprehensive car insurance, Third Party Fire and Theft and Third Party Only – all coming in at varying prices. In these ways we hope we can offer young people a car insurance policy and premium that suits their needs and is one that they can afford.

We offer some discounts that apply to young drivers who have just passed their test. If you take a Pass Plus course – designed to improve your driving even further in these early stages – then you could take advantage of our Pass Plus Discount. With Direct Line the Pass Plus Discount - which is 5% - is available to new drivers purchasing insurance within the first year of passing their test.

All Direct Line Car Insurance customers also benefit from our No Claims Discount. This means that every year you don’t claim we give you a No Claims Discount, up to a maximum of nine years.
